The population of the leatherback sea turtles - the largest of the
Ab s t r a c t
sea turtle species - living in the Pacific ocean is declining since
the last decades. Reasons are pouching of the eggs, impact of
direct hunting/killing of adult tur tles at the nesting beaches in
f o r m e r y e a r s a n d n o wa d a y s m a i n l y t h e i m p a c t o f f i s h e r y .
The Master thesis should investigate the impact of fishery at the
Pacific coast of Cost Rica by sampling data of the amount of
fishing boat s , f ishing technology and the use of sea turtle
“ f r i e n d l y ” t e c h n o l o g i e s . T h e t h e s i s a n d t h e f i e l d wo r k i n
