Basic pattern: stocking stitch:
in rounds: knit stitches only
in rows: right-side row: knit stitches,
Wrong-side row: purl stitches
German rib:
1st round: * knit three, purl 1, repeat after *
2nd round: purl 1, *knit 1, purl 3, repeat after *, end with knit 1, purl 2
always repeat rd 1 and 2.
Cuff pattern:
knit 1, purl 1, alternate
Tension sample (stocking stitch):
30 stitches x 40 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm

Cast on 60 stitches and distribute evenly onto the double-pointed needles (15 stitches per needle).
For the rolled edge, knit 9 rounds, then work another 6 rounds in the cuff pattern. Continue knitting
the German rib. At a total height of 12cm after the cuff pattern, knit 4 more rounds as follows: 1st
and 4th needle: knit in stocking stitch, continue the German rib with the 2nd and 3rd needle, purling
together the last two stitches on the 3rd needle (= 59 st, German rib begins and ends in round 1
with 1 purlwise, and in round 2 with 2 purlwise). After that, knit the heel with short rows over the
stitches of the 1st and 4th needle (see knitting pattern for socks). Continue working in rounds,
knitting the German rib according to chart instructions 2 over the 2nd and 3rd needle, and knitting
the stitches of needle 1 and 4. Knit the standard toe at 20 cm length of the foot in stocking stitch
(measured from the middle of the heel) (see knitting pattern for socks).
