CHAPTER ONE DENN SIE WISSEN NICHT WAS SIE TUN The Berg Gallery 2011 by Mila 01 Rabbits 01 Rabbits … for they don’t know what they’re doing. The Berg Gallery 24.04.2011 - 02.05.2011 The notion of rapid transformation of the city’s urban tissue lies at the heart of Chapter One. Berlin has been turned upside down several times by social unrest and armed conflict in the last century. In line with The Berg’s play with the perceived scale and scope of reality Rabbits simulates yet another upheaval. Radical change is sweetened when initiated by an innocent face… Starting on Easter 2011 real bunnies populate a cardboard and salad model of central Berlin in The Berg Gallery. Over a time span of one week the innocent bunch eats up large parts of Berlin under the curious eyes of by-passers and tuned in online-visitors who are connected to the installation through a 24/7 real time web-camera. Gigantic bunnies roaming the streets of Mitte, climbing The Berg, playing ball with Brandenburg gate, chewing Unter den Linden’s alley trees... After 8 days considerable urban transformation is achieved and the bunnies are sent on vacation until 2012.
