Dear readers,
aktuelle Projekte aus dem Automotive-Umfeld stellen den
Schwerpunkt der aktuellen Ausgabe unserer Kundenzeitschrift Updates dar. Die Vernetzung von Fahrzeugen ist eine
Zukunftstechnologie, welche die Dornier Consulting in führender Position begleitet. Um das Vertrauen der Nutzer in
diese Technologie zu stärken, erforscht Dornier Consulting
neue Testverfahren der IT-Security in der Automobilelektronik. Näheres dazu und weitere interessante Themen finden

Current projects in the automotive sector are main focus of
this issue of our customer magazine Updates. Vehicle networks are considered as a future technology, which is developed by Dornier Consulting as a leader. To strengthening
user confidence in this technology, new methods for the testing of IT-security in the automotive electronics are developed by Dornier Consulting. Read more about this subject

in Saudi Arabien
ITS study in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
awarded to Dornier Consulting
Dornier Consulting wurde vom United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) mit einem umfassenden Projekt in Saudi
Arabien beauftragt.
Dornier Consulting has been awarded by the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) with a comprehensive study
to further develop Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Die Studie umfasst die Entwicklung von intelligenten Telematiklösungen für verschiedene Highways im Königreich und
ist ein nächster Schritt des ITS Entwicklungsprogramms des
Saudi Arabischen Verkehrsministeriums. In 30 Monaten sollen Lösungen für die Highways Jeddah-Makkah und MakkahMedinah sowie zusätzlich für den Metropolenraum Dammam
entwickelt werden.
Der Vertrag wurde in Riyadh von Dr. Jürgen R. Koffler, CEO der Dornier Consulting (im Bild rechts) im Beisein von Dr.
Riyad Musa, dem UNDP Resident Representative, Dr. Kishan Khoday, dem
Deputy Resident Representative sowie
Herrn Martin Lensch, UNDP Senior
Transport Economist, unterzeichnet.
Dornier Consulting ist bereits seit über
10 Jahren in Saudi Arabien aktiv.
The study will be a next step of the Ministry of Transport’s
ITS programme and shall develop the design of various ITS
systems for the Ministry’s highways. The project will take
30 months and covers the highways Makkah-Jeddah and
Makkah-Madinah as well as the Dammam metropolitan area.
The contract was signed in Riyadh by

consulting expertise in the main topics of German "Energiewende": Since recently, two new teams of experts have
joined us, one for networks/smart grids/IT, the other for
sales & trading (portfolio management, energy procurement, risk management). Both have longtime experience
in the German energy market, that we will use to give
answers to the current urgent questions in the transition
to a sustainable energy system that relies fully on 100%
renewable energy sources.

Sehr dynamische Fahrzeug-Netzwerke - unter dem Stichwort:
car2x communication - gelten als eine Zukunftstechnologie,
welche Lösungsansätze aus der allgemeinen IT-Security berücksichtigen muss.
Very dynamic vehicle networks – under the heading car2x
communication - are considered as a future technology,
which approaches from the general IT security must be
taken into account.
Zentrale Themen sind der Einsatz geeigneter Verschlüsselungstechnologien (public key infrastructure), sowie die bereits
angebotenen Cloud-Services, mit eindeutigen Angaben der
„Service Level Agreements“ (SLA).
Central themes include the use of appropriate encryption (public key infrastructure), as well as cloud services
already offered, clearly indicating the "Service Level
Agreement" (SLA).
Das wichtige Argument der Kosten darf dabei
aber nicht zu Lasten der Sicherheit gehen, dies
würde das Vertrauen der Nutzer gefährden.

DIAMONDS neue Verfahren zum modell- und
risikobasierten Testen der IT-Security in der
Automobilelektronik.
To meet this challenge, we are developing
in the EU research project DIAMONDS
new method for model-based and riskbased testing of IT security in the automotive electronics.

Dornier Consulting hat erste gemeinsame Aktivitäten mit dem
u.a. im Silicon-Valley angesiedelten Technologie-Startup Missing Link Electronics in den Themenbereichen Avionik und
Automotive gestartet. Unter anderem wurden in einer Analyse zu In-Flight-Entertainment (IFE) -Systemen neue Technologietrends und deren Implikationen wie z.B. von Mobile Internet Devices und den verbundenen Architekturen untersucht.
Ein Ergebnis: Die Open-Source-Ökonomie von heute erlaubt
grundsätzlich geringere Entwicklungs- und Lizenzkosten bei
höherer Funktionalität und Qualität als viele proprietäre Alternativen. Zukünftiges IFE wird sich durch eine dezentralisierte
Architektur auszeichnen, in der sogenannte „Components of
the shelf“ und Open Source Technologien zum Einsatz kommen. Es ergeben sich Vorteile wie Gewichtseinsparungen
von 60% sowie Reduktion im Energieverbrauch von 70% gegenüber herkömmlichen Systemen.
Dornier Consulting has started first common activities with
the Silicon Valley based technology start-up Missing Link
Electronics in the areas of automotive and avionic. In a survey on in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems new technology
trends and implications like such of mobile internet devices
and related architectures were analysed. One result: today’s
open source economies enable generally reduced development and licensing costs along with increased functionalities
and quality compared to proprietary alternatives. Future IFE
will stand out by decentralised architecture applying so-called
“components of the shelf” and open source technologies. Opportunities will add up regarding weight reduction up to 60%
as well as reduction in energy consumption up to 70% compared to current systems.

in Hamburg
Dornier Consulting reinforces
its commitment to the topic of electric
mobility in Hamburg
Neben ihrem Engagement im Schaufenster Elektromobilität
Berlin-Brandenburg konnte Dornier Consulting ihre Beratung
und Umsetzungsunterstützung auch in der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg ausweiten. Dies umfasst insbesondere die Projekte „Wirtschaft am Strom“ und „Smart HafenCity“ sowie ab
2013 das Projekt „eQuartier Hamburg“. Des Weiteren unterstützt Dornier Consulting ihren Kunden bei der Erstellung eines
Masterplans für einen bedarfsgerechten Ausbau öffentlicher
Ladeinfrastruktur.
In addition to its involvement in the showcase for electric
mobility in Berlin-Brandenburg Dornier Consulting is expanding its advice and support for this topic in the city of
Hamburg. Dornier Consulting is counselling its customers
in the projects “Wirtschaft am Strom" and “Smart HafenCity
"and as from 2013 "eQuartier Hamburg". Furthermore Dornier Consulting is supporting its customer in the creation of
a master plan for public charging infrastructure.
Dieser Masterplan stellt einen wesentlichen Schritt dar, Elektromobilität alltagstauglich und für Jedermann verfügbar zu
machen. Mit dem Projekt eQuartier Hamburg plant der Senat,
innovative Elektromobilitätskonzepte in den Wohnungsbau und
die Quartiersentwicklung einzubinden. Im Projekt Wirtschaft am
Strom geht es um die systematische Erfassung von Nutzungspotentialen in unterschiedlichen Branchen der Hamburger Wirtschaft sowie in kommunalen Fuhrparks – hier wird Forschung
und Entwicklung betrieben. Die Elektromobilitätsaktivitäten werden im übergreifenden Kommunikationsprojekt Smart HafenCity gebündelt, in dem verschiedene Demonstrationsprojekte
rund um die Themenfelder Energieeffizienz und Smart Energy
öffentlichkeitswirksam umgesetzt werden.
Neben der Organisation und Steuerung der Förderprojekte ist
Dornier Consulting auch fachlich in die Themengebiete Induktionsladen, Batteriespeicher und Schnellladen eingebunden und
trägt damit zu einer systematischen Integration der Elektromobilität in die Stadt- und Verkehrsentwicklung sowie der Festigung Hamburgs als internationaler Logistik-Hub bei.
The master plan represents a significant step towards making electric vehicles suitable for everyday use and available for everyone. In the project “eQuartier Hamburg” the
Senate aims to integrate innovative concepts of electric
mobility into housing and neighbourhood development.
The project “Wirtschaft am Strom” is about the systematic identification of usage potential in different industries
of Hamburg’s economy as well as municipal fleets – main
focus is on research and development. The bundling of all
electric mobility activities is carried out in the overall communication project “Smart HafenCity” which incorporates
different energy issues related to smart energy and energy
efficiency.
Besides the organisation and controlling of the development projects Dornier Consulting offers its customers
engineering support in the areas of inductive charging,
battery storage and fast charging, thus helping the city of
Hamburg to systematically integrate electric vehicles in the
urban and transport development plan and to sustain the
city’s role as an international logistics hub.
