6. SHOP OPENING HOURS
Most shops are open from Mondays to Fridays 9:00-18:00, on Saturdays from 9:00-17:00. On
Sundays almost all shops are closed. If you want to shop outside the opening hours, you can do so at
petrol stations and at the Spar supermarket at the main railway station (open daily from 6:00-21:00).
The Herrengasse is a well-known shopping street in Graz. Moreover there are several shopping
centres, which can all be reached by public transport.








10. PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Bus and Tramway:
In Graz bus and tramway stops can be identified by yellow signs with a green “H” (Haltestelle). Route
maps and timetables can be found below the sign. Timetables are also available from the drivers. The
public transport hub in Graz is the Jakominiplatz, where all tramways and most of the busses pass
through.
Tickets cost € 2.10 (valid for one hour) and are available in the tramways and buses. You can change
as often as necessary and in any direction during that one hour.
Each ticket has to be stamped at the machine in the tramway or in the bus when starting your
journey. If you are travelling without a ticket, you have to pay a fine and the price for the ticket.

The post offices in Graz are open from Monday to Friday from 9:00-12:00 and from 14:00-17:30 for

The Austrian Federal Railways (www.oebb.at) offer an excellent route network, by which you can
reach almost all parts of Austria. Timetables showing the departure and arrival times are available
from the information counters at the railway stations.
If you are under 26 years old, you can buy a “Vorteilscard<26”, with which you can travel throughout
Austria for half price by ÖBB trains.
