from August 28-30, 2015 (return flights and accommodation expenses
covered), a promotion in Le Point August 27, 2015 edition

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
• The start-up must be an independent company formed less
than three years ago with a year of activity
• 100% of capital provided by African nationals
• Start-up’s activity based in Africa

À PROPOS DU PRIX DE LA JEUNE ENTREPRISE AFRICAINE
Africa has ideas and talent but African start-ups lack access to capital, especially in the
first phase of development.
In 2014, the first Train My Generation Survey undertaken by the New York Forum AFRICA
with the Train My Generation vocational training fund established by the New York Forum
Institute in 2013 highlighted this point: 56% of the 5,000 young African respondents
pointed to their difficulty in finding funding.
In this context, Richard Attias, founder of the New York Forum Institute, initiated the African
Start-up Award in partnership with Le Point Afrique, the on-line edition of Le Point
dedicated to Africa launched in March 2014 and France 24
The Award will support talent and the most creative initiatives,
particularly those with a social impact component.
L'Afrique a des idées et des talents mais la jeune entreprise africaine manque cruellement
d'accès au capital, en particulier en phase d'amorçage.
En 2014, la première enquête sur la génération des 15-26 ans réalisée par le New York
Forum AFRICA avec le programme Train My Generation,
établi par le New York Forum Institute en 2013, illustrait cette réalité:
56% des 5000 jeunes africains interrogés indiquaient avoir
des difficultés à trouver des financements.
Face à ce constat, Richard Attias, fondateur du New York Forum Institute, a initié le Prix de
la jeune entreprise africaine en partenariat avec le Point Afrique et France 24.
Ce Prix a pour objectif de soutenir les talents et d’accompagner les initiatives
les plus innovantes, particulièrement celles avec un impact social fort.
