Rome, 1st century AD. Bronze of Apollo Classicizing in style
Rome, 1st century AD.
Bronze of Apollo
Classicizing in style, realized after a Greek statue, the god stands on his right leg, his left partly missing relaxed and
bent at the knee. His left shoulder is slightly pulled back, the arm missing, perhaps once holding his bow or lyre. His
right arm, also missing, was bent and extended forward holding his plectrum. His quiver is at his right shoulder with
a knobbed cover. His head angled downward with his hair rolled back and tied in a chignon. The individual locks
delineated, long wavy tresses falling onto his shoulders. The eyes deeply recessed for now-missing inlays.
H: 9,4 cm.
