Congress Program Highlights
We now have 1,500 invited presentations scheduled during the 23RD WCD. Scientific daily sessions
will include plenaries, symposia, courses, workshops, controversies and, of course presentations
from the abstract submissions in oral and poster format. The Call for Abstracts online submission
has now closed and we are very excited to have received 3,500 abstracts. Thank you to all the
Canadians who stepped forward to assist in the abstract review process!
We are very pleased to announce that one of our
Distinguished Lecturers, Dr. Julio Montaner, has recently been
named as Vancouver’s Most Awesome Doctor 2014. Dr.
Montaner is the Director of the British Columbia Centre for
Excellence in HIV/AIDS, and Professor of Medicine at the
University of British Columbia. In the mid-1990’s, Dr.
Montaner’s innovative experimentation led to the
development of High Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART), a
triple-drug therapy that has become the gold standard of HIV
treatment. His research changed how the world views and
