December 15th, 1924 – March 6th, 2014
Cécile Noëlla Ross born on December 15th, 1924, in the district of Gravelbourg lived most
of her life around and in the Village of her Parish. She was the youngest from the family of
Alfred and Adéline Allard. She attended the country school of Lefort and later the convent.
She married the love of her life Ernest N. Ross at the Regina Armouries in November of
1943, while he was in military training. Ernest was immediately stationed overseas for two
years and saw action in Italy, Belgium and Holland. Upon his return they farmed actively
for many years, transitioning the farm to both of their sons when they retired. They traveled
to Europe for the 40th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland in l985. Together they raised
a family of five children and Cécile was very proud to be a farmer’s wife and a homemaker.
Cécile helped her husband survive a near fatal farm accident in the fall of 1950. This was
very traumatic for Cécile. Cécile was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies’
Auxiliary for many years as her husband Ernest was a veteran and a member of the Legion.
Throughout their almost 60 years together, Cécile and her husband Ernest took many family
vacations, first with their children, camping in Banff National Park/Lake Louise and Meota
Beach. The two of them together, many times accompanied by a family member went to
Cuba, Hawaii, Florida, Italy, Holland and many Canadian destinations such as Edmonton,
Fairmont and, Ottawa. Also, in 2004 Cécile travelled to the 60th Anniversary of the Italian
Campaign with her youngest daughter. In 2002, Cécile became a widow and though it must
have been extremely difficult, with many family members close by, that helped to keep her
busy. She continued traveling with and visiting her daughters, which to her made all trips
very special. Cécile loved her children - and whenever each of her five children would ask
(as each of us did in turn over the years) what we were like as kids... a fond, caring, soft
smile would come over her face at the recollection. You could see, as well as sense, this
mother’s love. Cécile was an equally good grandmother and, great-grandmother. Cécile
also loved to dance - and was also a pretty darn good step dancer... and when her children
were young she would sometimes ‘cut up the kitchen floor’ to strut a few of the steps that
she had mastered when she was young. Cécile loved music - all kinds of music - but
especially the piano and music from the ¨crooners¨of her day - Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra
and, one of her all time favorites Tony Bennett whom she was so pleased to see in concert.
Cécile never tired of hearing her talented musician brothers play together as a group or on
their own - piano, banjo, fiddle. She never tired of seeing her youngest daughter do the
French-Canadian gigue during the many annual performances of ‘Les Danseurs de la
Rivière la Vieille’. In the last few years, due to her decline in health, she became a resident
of the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg. All of her children, six grand children, four great
grand children, visited as well as her sister-in-law, nieces, nephews. This brought much
enjoyment, a gleam to her eye and a wonderful smile. She leaves to mourn her five children:
Lila (Ian), Cyril (Pierrette), René (Elena) Lois (Rolando) and Camille (Doug); six
grandchildren: Kim, Tina, Justin, Cédric, Jean-Philippe, Decio, and four great grandchildren:
Ashley, Amy, Victoria and Éloi. Predeceased by her husband Ernest N. Ross and her
parents, Adéline and Alfred Allard, Elzear (Emilda) Allard, Valéda (George) Bourgeois, Alda
(Joe) Bouvier, Laurent (Beatrice) Allard, Emery (Catherine) Allard, Camilla (Sacha) Donoff,
Lactance Allard, Lorraine (Bill) Marshall and her brother René, and her baby sister Rolande.
Also predeceased by her granddaughter Laramie Jessica Joy Ross, nephew Gerald Paquin
of Boucherville, Québec and, Gaëtan Allard of Hull, Québec. Predeceased by her inlaws:
Joseph (Julia) Morissette Ross and all of their seven sons. Survived by her sister-in-law:
Jeanne Allard of Gravelbourg and Marie Elva Bertram Ross of Regina.

Cécile Noëlla Ross, née le 15 décembre 1924 à Gravelbourg, Cécile a vécu toute sa vie autour
du village dans cette paroisse. Cécile était la plus jeune de la famille de Alfred et Adéline Allard.
Cécile a commencé ses cours à l’école Lefort et plus tard au couvent de Gravelbourg. En
novembre 1943, Cécile a marié l’amour de sa vie, Ernest N.Ross. Comme Ernest était en
entraînement, ils se sont mariés au centre militaire de Régina. Immédiatement après leur
mariage, Ernest a été envoyé outre mer pour deux ans où il était basé en Italie, en Belgique et
en Hollande. De retour au Canada, il reprend le travail de la ferme et après plusieurs années,
avec ses deux fils, jusqu’à ce qu’il prenne sa retraite. Nos parents ont voyagé en Europe pour
le 40e anniversaire de la Libération de la Hollande en 1985. Cécile était vraiment fière de ses
cinq enfants et d’être la femme d’un fermier. En 1950, Cécile a aidé son mari à survivre à un
terrible accident de ferme, une période extrêmement difficile dans sa vie. Ernest, étant un
vétéran et membre de la Légion, Cécile était aussi membre de la Légion Royale du Canada,
comme auxiliaire, pour plusieurs années. A travers leurs presque 60 années ensemble, Cécile
et Ernest, ont eu l’occasion de prendre plusieurs vacances en famille; voyage avec leurs
enfants en camping à Banff National Park, Lake Louise et Meota Beach. Quelques fois,
accompagnés de différents membres de leur famille, ils sont allés à Cuba, Hawaï, Floride, Italie,
Hollande et plusieurs autres destinations à travers le Canada, comme Edmonton, Fairmont,
Ottawa. En 2002, Cécile traverse une période extrêmement difficile avec le départ de son mari,
Ernest. Cécile a cependant continué à voyager et à visiter avec ses enfants qui espéraient que
chaque occasion soit très spéciales pour Cécile. Entre autre, en 2004, Cécile a voyage jusqu’en
Italie pour le 60e anniversaire de la campagne italienne. Cécile aimait ses enfants et tu pouvais
voir tout l’amour d’une mère en Cécile. Cécile était également, une grand-mère et une arrièregrand-mère exceptionnelle. Cécile aimait la danse et était, elle-même une excellente danseuse
et adorait la gigue. Quand ses enfants étaient jeunes, parfois, Cécile dansait dans sa cuisine!
Cécile aimait la musique, tous genres de musique, mais spécialement le piano et la musique
de son époque; Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra et son chanteur préféré Tony Bennett que Cécile
a adoré voir en concert. Cécile ne se fatiguait jamais d’entendre les talents musiciens de ses
frères quand ils jouaient ensemble dans un groupe avec leur propres instruments, piano, banjo,
violon. Cécile était toujours contente d’assister aux spectacles de danses traditionelles.

années, avec la perte de sa santé, Cécile résidait au Foyer d’Youville à Gravelbourg. Chaque
fois que c’était possible, ses enfants, ses petits-enfants, ses arrières petits-enfants, sa bellesoeur Jeanne et plusieurs nieces et neveux, lui rendaient visite. Cécile était tellement heureuse,
et chaque fois qu’un membre de sa famille arrivait, Cécile rayonnait et nous sortait son beau
sourire, rempli de bonheur et d’amour. Cécile laisse dans le deuil, ses cinq enfants: Lila (Ian),
Cyril (Pierrette), René (Elena), Lois (Rolando) et Camille (Doug); six petits-enfants: Kim, Tina,
Justin, Cédric, Jean-Philippe, Decio, et quatre arrière-petits-enfants: Ashley, Amy, Victoria et
Éloi. Précédée par son mari Ernest N.Ross et ses parents, Adéline et Alfred Allard, Elzear
(Emilda) Allard, Valéda (George) Bourgeois, Alda (Joe) Bouvier, Laurent (Beatrice) Allard,
Emery (Catherine) Allard, Camilla (Sacha) Donoff, Lactance Allard, Lorraine (Bill) Marshall et
son frère René et sa petite soeur, Rolande. Précédée par sa petite-fille Laramie Jessica Joy
Ross, ses neveux, Gerald Paquin de Boucherville, Québec, et Gaëtan Allard de Hull, Québec.
Précédée par sa belle-famille: Joseph (Julia) Morissette Ross et leurs sept fils. Lui survivant,
ses belle-soeurs: Jeanne Allard de Gravelbourg et Marie Elva Bertram Ross de Régina, et
