L’histoire: : Volker Janacek, Peter Terhoeven et Robert Valet sont le coeur d’un groupe initialement appelé
“Solar system”, qui exista de 1981 à 1987. En 1990 ils publient leur premier CD « The final solution ». Avec
« World games », en 1992, le groupe s’attire un succès d’estime. En 1995, « The house of schizophrenia » est
accueilli avec enthousiasme. En 1997 « In time… », quatrième album, sort chez Muséa. Après un album de
reprises d’ « Animals » de Pink Floyd, voici le cinquième album du groupe
Le groupe : Les trois membres fondateurs sont accompagnés d’Anja Middeldorf au chant, de Peter Reinders à la
basse, et de nombreux musiciens locaux.
L’album : « Five » est un concept-album sur les quatre éléments et le « cinquième ». Ces six pièces complexes
(de 8 à 14 minutes) révèlent un groupe au sommet de sa maîtrise et de son art. L’influence Pink
Floyd /psychédélique, certes présente, est sous contrôle, et le style du groupe apparaît désormais très personnel.
Une excellent production, fidèle à l’esprit des années 70 quant au son, rehausse des compositions soignées et
prenantes. Ce ne sont pas moins de 12 musiciens qui ont uni leurs efforts ici, dont trois chanteurs. Bruitages,
atmosphères, tout ici apparaît peaufiné, soigné. Le monde de Solar Project est plus que jamais un mélange
d’ambiances de rêve et d’une pulsion rock très pure, proche de l’esprit originel du rock. Un des albums de
l’année, c’est certain !
The history: Volker Janacek, Peter Terhoeven and Robert Valet were the core part of a band called "Solar
System" which existed from 1981 'til 1987. In summer 1988 they decided to produce a CD. After one year of
recording sessions "The final solution" was published in February 1990. The second album "World Games " was
released in October 1992, the progressive music scene took notice of "Solar Project". The band got some very
good reviews and the sales increased Another CD, "The House of S. Phrenia” was published in January 1995 and
is regarded as the best Solar Project album by many. In 1997 the fourth CD "...in Time" which was released by
Muséa . The band took a time out to record a highly acclaimed medley of Pink Floyd's "Animals" which was
released by the Sysyphus Label in 2000. The latest album "Five" is available since January 2001 at Musea again.
The band: Currently, Solar Project consists of the three founders, Volker Janacek on drums, Robert Valet on
keyboards and Peter Terhoeven on guitars, all living near Moers, supported in the studio as well as live by Anja
Middeldorf (Kiechle) on vocals, Peter Reinders on bass, and several local musicians.
The album: “Five” is a concept album about the four elements and the fifth one. These six complex pieces (from
8 to 14 minutes) reveal an exceptional band. The Pink Floyd and psyché influence, still present, is now under
control and Solar Project’s style appear like highly personal and unique. An excellent production, faithful to the
seventies’ spirit as to the sound, enhance the compositions. No less than 12 musicians contributed to this album,
three singers among others. It took thrre years to elaborate the sounds, atmospheres, and this incredible mix of
rock power and dreamlike atmospheres which form Solar Project’s world. Certainly one of the albums of the
year!
