Un film en a ete' tire'. Le choix de ce roman est une manière de participer a notre façon aux commémorations du centenaire du début de la Grande Guerre (1914), qui ont lieu en France cette année. Alain Fournier a écrit un seul livre. Il a été' tue' en 1914. Il avait 28 ans. - Au mois de novembre, nous nous réunirons le 20, pour discuter Le trottoir au soleil de Philippe Delerm (2011). L'auteur :écrivain et essayiste Français, est ne' en 1950, de parents instituteurs, Devenu professeur, il quitte son poste en 2007 pour se consacrer entièrement a l'écriture. Le livre : Une attitude face a la vie. L'écrivain est dans cet ete' indien ou il n'y a plus de temps a perdre. Rester du cote' du soleil devient une lutte de chaque instant. Il nous rappelle que la vie est faite d'instants pas forcement spectaculaires, mais poétiques. Il raconte les moments de bonheur de la vie quotidienne Au mois de décembre, les membres se réuniront chez Bernadette. Ils pourront lire un poème en Français de leur choix et dire pourquoi ils ont aime' ce poème. The Atrium, une maison de retraite a Sans José, offre un programme mensuel qui célèbre les différents pays du monde. On a choisi la France pour le mois de juillet. Bernadette Theisen, membre du conseil d'administration de l'Alliance, a gracieusement accepté de faire une présentation sur la culture française suivie par une dégustation de fromages et de vin français. Laurie Kane, a long standing member, a fourni 6 fromages français, Marie-Claude Garrity, responsable des cours de Campbell, a prêté une carte de la France et d'autres décorations, et the Atrium a acheté 3 vins français. L'après-midi était un grand succès. Nous étions toutes très bien reçues. The Atrium, a retirement home in San Jose, offers a monthly program celebrating different countries of the world. France was chosen for the month of July. Bernadette Theisen, Board Member of the Alliance, graciously accepted to do a presentation on French culture which was followed by a wine and cheese tasting. Laurie Kane, long standing Member, furnished 6 French cheeses, and Marie-Claude Garrity, Head of the Campbell School, lent a map of France and other decorations. And the Atrium purchased 3 French wines. The afternoon was a great success and we were all very well received.. Fun stuff 4 A new reason to go back to Paris and up the "Grande Dame" The Eiffel Tower. It has been upgrade with a glass floor 57 meters above the ground (187 feet) .
