Un château du Moyen Age
exceptionnel Entouré de douves, il a conservé son plan
d’origine en deux parties :
• dans la basse-cour, sont regroupés les
bâtiments agricoles à pans de bois du
XVe siècle et la chapelle du XIIe siècle,
• sur la haute cour, le manoir d’habitation du XVe siècle est protégé par une
muraille du XIIe siècle.
An outstanding medieval castle
Surrounded by a moat, it has retained its
original two-part layout:
• the outer bailey, with the half-timbered 15th-century agricultural buildings
and the 12th-century chapel,
• the inner bailey, with the 15th century
manorial building protected by a 12thcentury wall.

A family… a museum
Early in the 20th century two young scientists, Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger,
invented a new prospecting technique.
In 1970 their family chose the Château
de Crèvecoeur as the site for a museum
devoted to their saga. After long years of
work, the medieval logic of the estate was
restored.
A variety of missions
Officially recognized as a foundation
for public benefit, the Fondation Musée
Schlumberger sets out to:
• promote scientific research
• provide aid to scientists
• preserve and rehabilitate the architecture of Normandy and make it better
known.
A prize for science
In partnership with Relais d’Sciences,
the Foundation supports a research team
so as to make its work known to a wider
audience, thereby contributing to the dissemination of a scientific, technical and
industrial culture.
Une famille... Un musée
Au début du XXe siècle, deux jeunes chercheurs, Conrad et Marcel Schlumberger
inventent une technique de prospection
minière. En 1970, leur famille choisit le
Château de Crèvecœur pour y installer un
musée retraçant leur épopée. Après un
long travail de restauration, le domaine
retrouve sa logique médiévale.
Des missions diverses
Reconnue d’utilité publique, la Fondation
Musée Schlumberger a pour but de :
• promouvoir la recherche scientifique…,
• venir en aide aux chercheurs…,
• conserver, mettre en valeur, faire connaître … l’architecture normande.

En partenariat avec Relais d’Sciences, la
Fondation accompagne une équipe de recherche afin de faire connaître ses travaux
auprès d’un large public et participe ainsi
à la diffusion de la culture scientifique,

Des années 1910 aux années 50, l’aventure
des frères Schlumberger qui ont expérimenté, au cœur du Pays d’Auge, une technique aujourd’hui mondialement utilisée :
la prospection électrique des sols.

A travers leur regard personnel, des ingénieurs, des membres de la famille Schlumberger, un archéologue… font « revivre
les objets » d’une collection scientifique

From the 1910s to the 1950s, the adventure
of the Schlumberger brothers who, in the
heart of the Pays d’Auge, developed a technique that is now used worldwide: electric
underground prospecting.

Les Médiévales (8 jours du 1er au 2ème
dimanche d’août).
Grâce à une soixantaine de passionnés,
le visiteur découvre la seigneurie de Crèvecœur telle qu’elle était au XVe siècle.
Il devient le témoin privilégié de scènes
uniques, où chevaliers, seigneurs, artisans, paysans et musiciens vivent nuit
et jour à l’heure médiévale.

Les Médiévales (from the first to the
second Sunday in August).
Thanks to a group of around 60 enthusiasts, visitors can experience the manor
of Crèvecoeur as it was in the 15th century. They become first-hand witnesses
to unique scenes in which knights, lords,
craftsmen, farmers and musicians bring
the Middle Ages back to life, by night
and day.
